Netball Transition Drill
This Netball Transition Drill is a brilliant way to bring match play intensity into training without overcomplicating the session. Players have to react instantly after the first contest, then switch quickly into attack or defence depending on who wins the ball. That makes it especially useful for developing transition play, game awareness, decision-making and support movement under pressure.
Use it as a high-energy section in the middle of your netball training session, once players are warm and ready to move at pace. Start with clear roles, keep the scoring area obvious, and encourage players to communicate early so the supporting runner knows when to enter the play. You can run it in short, sharp bursts with quick resets, then progress it by adding extra defenders, limiting time on the ball, or challenging players to score within a set number of passes.
It is a strong netball drill for building quicker reactions, cleaner ball movement and that lovely moment when defence turns into attack.
