The WD rarely gets the spotlight, which makes this one from Gateshead Stadium Netball Club even better to watch. A position that’s often the first to disappear when numbers are tight suddenly becomes the main character, and rightly so. Disrupting play, picking off passes and doing all the hard work that doesn’t always show up on a scoresheet. Proper appreciation for a player who ran the game in all the ways that matter.
What Happens Off Court Wins Games On It
A great post by Netball Excellence Training, breaking down the role of changing room culture. Trust, honesty, energy, standards, all the stuff that shapes how a team actually functions when the pressure is on. And it’s not just relevant at elite level. Every team has a 'room', even if it’s a bench, a sideline or a group chat. Get that environment right and everything else tends to follow.

After the long-range fun, this is netball at full intensity. Netball Super League spotlight one of the standout moments from round 3, with Tash Pavelin timing her run to perfection and flying in to win ball. It’s a great example of defensive unit work done properly, creating just enough space to tempt the pass, then shutting it down in an instant. Less trick shot, more textbook defence, and just as satisfying to watch.

Suncorp Super Netball has barely got going and it’s already delivered moments that are impossible to ignore - so we couldn’t not get involved on our own socials!
The first clip shines a light on the defensive connection between Shamera Sterling-Humphrey and Latanya Wilson of the Adelaide Thunderbirds. It’s one of those moments that made us stop and rewind. The lift, the timing, the disruption, all working together to completely throw off the shooter. It’s creative, aggressive and shows just how effective a defensive partnership can be when players trust each other and commit fully to the play.

Breathing, resetting and blocking out the noise before stepping up to deliver. It’s a cool reminder that composure doesn't necessarily come naturally, it’s something you practise, and when it matters most, it shows.

This gem from Redlands Coast Eagles is a great look at how sharp attacking movement can completely shift a phase of play. The timing, the change of direction, the roll and re-offer, it all links together so cleanly that the defender never really gets set. It’s the kind of sequence that looks effortless when it’s done well, but it’s all built on smart footwork and awareness. Proper attacking netball, executed exactly how you’d want it.

We thoroughly enjoyed this episode of The Best Netball Podcast Ever. Starring the UK's most recognised umpire - Gary Burgess, it's a proper insight into what it takes to officiate at the top level of netball. From the fitness demands that rival the players, to the level of scrutiny and review behind every decision, it pulls back the curtain on a side of the game most people don’t see. Gary also shares his thoughts on the balance between contest and contact as the sport becomes more physical, plus a couple of umpire pet peeves.
Informative, entertaining, and one that players, coaches and umpires will all take something from.
Control the Controllables (and Let the Rest Go)
Lastly, this infographic from Sports Mental Health Advocate is a simple one, but it resonates. It breaks down what actually sits within your control as an athlete and what doesn’t, which is something a lot of players lose sight of when results, pressure or comparisons start creeping in.
